How long do parties last?
That is up to you. There is no time limit. Our average is about 2 1/2 hours, but we’ve seen it go as fast as an hour, and seen other groups stay for 4 hours or more. You decide!
How long will 100 paintballs last?
Here’s the best analogy we’ve found…. “How long will a glass of wine last?”
It really depends on the person!
I’ve seen people have 100 paintballs last for a few hours, and I’ve seen people go through 100 in less than 15 minutes. It all depends how aggressive, and more over, how wasteful people are. I’ll see people repeatedly shooting a bunker, just to watch the paintballs explode. So obviously, if you squeeze the trigger as fast as possible, you can burn through 100 pretty quick. But if you wait, and shoot at people, and not just walls, floors, bunkers, then they can last a lot longer. The over all average in our field is about 350 paintballs per person, and the average person is here for about 2 1/2 hours. So about 125 an hour is the average.
Can we bring Alcohol?
No. Of all the paintball questions asked by team building corporate groups and bachelor parties, this one probably ranks first, but unfortunately, our insurance does not allow alcohol and guns… go figure?!
Can we bring our own equipment and paintballs?
Paintballs… no. We are a Field Paint Only facility, so no outside paint can be brought into the facility.
As far as equipment, that can depend on what kind of stuff you have. We are an exclusive 50 cal facility, and so if you have a mechanical 50 cal gun… no problem. But no electronic guns and no 68 caliber.
Does it hurt?
No. Well, maybe just a little. Shot from a paintball marker at 260 feet per second, when hit, it will sting for a second – about like getting snapped with a towel, or with a rubber band. But with the adrenaline, and excitement, you may not even feel the hit. Depending where you get hit, it can leave a little mark which will go away in a day or so, and by simply wearing the proper clothing, you can minimize or eliminate this.
And now that we use the smaller 50 caliber low impact paintball guns, there is even less sting, and kids as young as 6 can play!
What should I wear?
You must wear an approved mask that will protect your face. That is supplied with all our packages. Then just full coverage, long sleeves and long pants. The younger crowd seems to prefer hooded sweatshirts, as then even the back of the head and neck is covered. Layering on clothes is a great idea, and since GatSplat fields are indoor, heated, and air conditioned, you can wear any protection you want, summer or winter and be comfortable.
We do have an entire protection set you can rent for just $10 per person. That includes coveralls, a chest and back protector, and a set of armored gloves. Then when the day is over, strip off the coveralls and leave the washing to us.
Does the paint wash out?
Yes it does. Actually, paintballs have no paint in them! They are a gelatin capsule, much like a bath oil bead, or a big round Advil caplet (about the size of a dime) and the stuff on the inside is mainly a product called PEG. This is a food grade synthetic oil filler that you find in tooth paste, visine, and even Dr. Pepper. You may get a few little grease marks, but since we don’t allow outside paint at our field, you don’t have to worry about big Pink, Orange and Yellow stains like on other fields. All our paint is a non-toxic, non-staining, no-pigment special formulation for our indoor facility.
What does GatSplat mean?
The term “Gat” was a shortened term for Gatling gun that became popular in the 1920’s to refer to any gun, but most often the “Tommy Gun” which was popular with the Gangsters of the era. With the growth of the Paintball Industry, the word Gat became a popular slang expression for one’s paintball gun: I just got a new Gat – Check out my Gat!
Obviously “Splat” is what a paintball does when it hits, so GatSplat is really a fun slang expression for Paintball Gun. But really?? GatSplat means a great time for all!
