The 50 Caliber Paintball difference

It starts with the size of the paintball

A 50 cal paintball just means that the diameter of the paintball is .5 inches. A standard paintball is .68 inches. So this means the paintball is slightly smaller which gives a lot of advantages to using it!

Smaller 50 cal hurt less

A smaller paintball means less sting and no paintball welts

Actually, 1/3 the sting of normal paintball.

The math is pretty easy. One of our 50 caliber paintballs weighs 1/3 of what a normal paintball does. And if you have 1/3 the weight, you have 1/3 the energy and 1/3 the energy equals 1/3 the sting. We could do the math all day long, but to really know how it is, check out the young kids with smiles that are 3 times bigger!

50 caliber paintballs make 1/3 the mess.

And with our non staining formula – it washes right out.

Even though it is less mess, and washable, we do offer protection packages which include head to toe coveralls, a chest and back protector, and padded gloves. Just wear a layer or two and you should be fine, but if you want to rent the protection package, it’s just 10 bucks. Then when you’re done, just unzip and leave it for us to wash. Besides – they make you look really cool!

The 50 caliber Paintball gun is much lighter.

This makes it easier for younger kids to use.

Not only are the paintballs lighter, but the gun and the tank are much lighter as well. A paintball gun uses compressed air to shoot out the paintballs, and with the 50 caliber paintballs, you don’t need as much air so you can use a smaller lighter tank!
Paintball Bachelor Parties

And the Advantages are not just for kids.

Everyone would rather have fun without the pain and welts of standard paintball.

You’ve probably seen the pictures of people with nasty looking welts on their body after playing paintball. That is not a good look for the Bachelor or Bachelorette the day before their wedding pictures. It’s also not a great look for the company team building group to return to the office with welts. By using 50 caliber paintballs and other low impact paintball techniques, we supply all the fun without the bruising!

We are now exclusively a 50 caliber paintball field.

When we started over a dozen years ago, there really were no 50 caliber paintball guns. The standard .68 inch, or 68 caliber paintball was the norm. We started to see younger players that wanted to play. Women wanted to jump in, corporate groups wanted to play, but inexperienced players thought it was a bit too much sting.

Getting hit with a standard paintball not only stings, it can leave paintball welts. Circular bruises about the size of a quarter that sometimes even break skin and cause bleeding. People would put ice on the welts to try to stop the bruising, but many would turn yellow, then black and blue just like any other bruise.

For a while, we handled the problem by layering up clothing for protection. This really reduced the number and severity of paintball welts, but depending where you were hit, could still cast a bit of discomfort.

Then the 50 caliber paintball came along. The 50 cal paintball came from Japan, as they didn’t have paintball, as strict gun laws said anything that hit with over 10 joules of force was considered an illegal weapon. So they made a 50 caliber paintball that instead of the standard 14 joules of impact, the 50 cal ball hit with just over 4 joules. So in a nutshell, they fly just as far, they fly just as (or more) accurately, they just have 1/3 the sting when you get hit.

So if you want all the fun, all the excitement, but 1/3 the sting – our 50 caliber paintball field is perfect for you!
